Serving families during the pandemic
Starting September 8, 2020
Ever since we opened in 1975, our mission has never changed. Our schools’ goals have been developed to promote the educational, social, cultural, emotional, and physical development of each child. The Early Bird concept is based on the knowledge that the young child has a natural curiosity. We encourage this curiosity by providing the stimulation of an educational environment. Our teachers are professionally trained to understand children and to provide programs that will have maximum impact on the child’s personal needs, and ultimate potential. By highlighting the child’s own interests, fun and learning become inseparable.
As parents have gone back to work and/or have been looking for fun social experiences for their school-age children this summer in a safe environment, Early Bird Schools have been working with Erie County and New York state to meet new safety standards for children birth through 5th grade.
For the past 5 months, Early Bird has been designated as an essential business for the first line responders during this pandemic. Guidelines for attendance were set and met to assure the health and safety of students and staff. As Early Bird Schools begin a new school year in 2020, students and staff will continue to be our main concern as our successful Department of Social Services plan is already in place.
As state and local decisions concerning public school reopening plans are developed, we have decided to designate and expand our school-age program. Early Bird Academy will be a new division of our school programming. Early Bird Academy will assist families of elementary students by offering “virtual instruction days” at Early Bird. The Academy will be a combination of formal instruction, extra-curricular exploration, and a place to provide positive, social experiences with friends. Teachers will assist with remote learning, homework, and offer tutoring when needed. Children will also enjoy daily music and art classes as well as “electives”. These electives will include instruction in cursive, typing, computer coding, and foreign languages.
"I made the Little Dipper!" Students create consumable constellations.
We offer remote learning assistance which includes uploading and downloading assignments as well as virtual meetings. Our center has WiFi and devices for your child to use.
Your child will enjoy art and music lessons with in-person instructors. Additionally Early Bird Academy will offer courses in French, Spanish, cursive, coding and typing.
Early Bird Academy is surrounded by remote green spaces available for children to play and explore.
